Leman Russ and the Space Wolves

September 22nd, 2010

One of the few remaining Loyalist Space Marine legions, the Space Wolves have their own unique and colorful history that makes them a unique choice as an Army to command in battle, despite being only one of the twenty Space Marine legions. Their Primarch, Leman Russ, passes his genetic defect, the Mark of the Wulfen, down to all of his battle-brethren that are in this specific chapter. The trait causes the warrior to become like a wolf, in both physical nature and mental. The ferocious warriors that have given over to the Wulfen will simply charge their foes and rip them to shreds with sharp claws and elongated canine teeth.

Leman Russ was raised by a pack of Fenrisian wolves until he was a boy, and then was taken in by the ruling king at the time. When the king passed on, Russ became a glorious ruler that soon attracted the attention of the Emperor of Mankind. He told Russ that he had created him so that he may lead a great army, but the Fenrisian king boldly denied this. They decided to hold three contests, and Russ won the first two, which were eating and drinking contests. The last was a fist fight. The glorious Emperor was incredibly surprised as Russ battered him ferociously, but it took only one strike for him to knock Russ down. Russ swore loyalty to the Emperor directly afterward, and was given command of the Space Wolves.

Space Wolves possess a hatred for authority, and do not follow the rigid doctrine of he Adeptus Astartes. Their command structure differs from the other, more uniform Space Marine legions. The command structure relies on what are called Great Companies, consisting of anywhere between 150 and 1,000 marines per each one. Each acts as if it were an individual army, and is completely self-sufficient. If you would like to learn more about the wolves or buy things like a Space Wolves Codex go to, Greyarmored.com.

Buying A Video Game Storage Rack

July 28th, 2010

I got my first job when I was 14 years old. It didn’t pay that well, but after two weeks of work, I had enough to pay for my first Nintendo game. It was a $45 dollar copy of Wizards and Warriors. I had never been so excited in my life.

That first video game was the start of what eventually became a pretty impressive collection. That was a good thing and a bad thing. It was good because I loved the games and expanding my collection was fun. It was bad because I’m kind of a slob and I didn’t always take good care of my video games.

I did not pay any attention to this until they quit working! My mom bought us a video game storage rack, but it was not the best solution. It was exposed to the open air. Any games that come as cartridges with open ends–meaning part of the electronics are exposed at the bottom–can be corrupted by dust and all the trash floating through the air.

When you buy video game storage, I would recommend purchasing cupboards that can be sealed. They may not be airtight, but they’re going to be safe than if they are just sitting on a shelf.

If you are looking for storage on the cheap, I would recommend the large plastic bins that are often used to store Christmas decorations. They are about the size of a large suitcase, but are little deeper and have lids that can be snapped on tightly.

The only other consideration I would think about is your buying rate. How fast is your collection going to grow? If you buy a small storage unit today and then fill it up with games in the next two years, you will simply need to buy another one. A little more research and an honest look at your collecting goals may save you a trip!
