Benefits of Automatic Soap Dispensers for the Home Bathroom

December 26th, 2010

If you ever saw an advertisement for automatic soap dispensers, you could be forgiven for thinking that the advertisement was aimed at builders who outfit public restrooms. Surely no one would ever consider automatic soap dispensers for the use at home now would they? That would just be too extravagant! Whatever could be wrong with a simple pump-action bottle of liquid soap or even a bar of soap in the bathroom? As it would happen, the benefits that come your way going automatic, while not immediately obvious, certainly are real ones.

Automatic soap dispensers to begin with, make sure that there is no cross contamination in your bathroom. You’d be surprised how people can touch soiled things in the bathroom and not care about it when they go open a tap or handle a bar of soap. People often just don’t care to observe their habits closely to see what they are doing. Using a manual soap dispenser is an option of course, if not as superior a choice as an automatic one. Automatic ones release a programmed glob of soap or foam when they detect with the help of a proximity sensor, the presence of a hand nearby. With a manual soap dispenser, while things can’t get as messy as they could with the handling of soap bars, there still is the possibility of contamination when someone is careless about touching the button with a soiled hand.

They make multi-dispenser models too that you put out a glob of moisturizing liquid or antibacterial product onto your hands after a wash with soap. If you have trouble convincing the children to wash well after using the toilet, automatic soap dispensers can make a great argument. Anything automatic is usually quite fun for a child to use. In fact, people who have automatic soap dispensers in their bathrooms have a little trouble getting their children to wash less!

The best thing about going automatic of course is that these don’t cost much – just barely $70 or so, and  you should have a great new dispenser for your bathroom. In fact, picking an automatic tap to go with your new dispenser should make for a complete fun solution for the bathroom. With an untouched-by-human-hands solution to washing your hands, there has to be no more worrying about health and cleanliness in the bathroom. No more sloppiness from a wet bar of soap, or rolling your eyes about people who just don’t care about personal hygiene.

Does Hiring A Math Or Chemistry Tutor Really Help Your Child?

October 25th, 2010

School’s already in session, and to the thousands of tutors who deal in traditionally difficult subjects like mathematics and chemistry, that’s good news. If there is one thing that parents won’t give up on even in a recession, it’s their children’s education. Ther are more and more parents who take on a math or chemistry tutor for their child even if it’s a budget buster.

The tutoring business is worth about $7 billion a year. The market isn’t growing at double-digit rates as it used to be, but it’s still pretty great. It used to be that a tutor was only called in when the child seemed to be falling behind in one hated subject or when there was a learning disability to deal with. Not anymore. These days, high school courses can get so tough, most teachers need a little extra guidance. The fact that college admissions have become more competitive than ever before adds to the general anxiety in the air too. If you are looking for a math or chemistry tutor for your child, it’s bound to be a pretty hefty investment at $100 an hour. Let’s look at how you can get the most for your money for your child.

To begin with, quality tutoring doesn’t have to be that expensive. It is possible to outsource your tutoring online to India and cut your expenses to a fraction of what it used to be. Companies like TutorVista from India happen to be particularly popular. In the past, lower middle-class families didn’t actually afford their tutoring – they obtained education loans for it. Now that credit is drying up all around, this is becoming impossible, and services like TutorVista are the only choice anymore.

Most high school students see 100 point increases in their scores on their SAT that they can easily credit to their tutoring. Does this mean that they understand their subject better now tha they’ve been tutored? Not necessarily; it could often just be that a child has had a lot of training at test taking with a tutor, Not at a subject in particular. Psychologists believe that while you might help your child get a better score with a math or chemistry tutor, it’s a meaningless improvement as far as getting ahead in life is concerned. Once the standard test taking is done, your child will find that her tutoring really hasn’t gained her any usable skills at her subject in the job market.

Learning is all about learning to struggle to find answers on one’s own. In the end, if a tutor only points the way and provides easy answers to everything, the expense of hiring a tutor may end up working against your child’s best interests.

Awesome Christmas Table Decorations

October 25th, 2010

Christmas is a time of year when you may do a lot of entertaining. Families get together and so do friends, all to share in whatever Christmas means to them and to you. When you host parties and gatherings with friends and family, you may take the easy route, or you may want to really do it up for your guests. One way to really wow those that are coming to your home for a holiday party is to come up with some great Christmas table decorations and a great Christmas tree. You can buy them already made, or you can make them on your own. Either way, these are a lot of fun.

You can keep your Christmas table decorations simple and elegant if you wish. This is a great touch for when you don’t have a lot of time, but you have a lot of friends coming over for dinner. Though the traditional Christmas colors are green and red, you can do something different. Some use shades of blue (which symbolizes the winter season), along with silver and white. You can also go with shades of gold to go with your traditional red and green for an upscale and updated look to those age old Christmas colors.

Get a table cloth in your base color, and find some simple yet elegant candles to adorn the table for an elegant set up for Christmas table decorations. Find some crystal or other sparkly adornments to go around your candles as a base. Your flatware and dinnerware can be white or you can use something you have put away for special occasions. If you have amazing china put away that you got as a wedding gift, now is certainly the time to use it. Don’t forget your favorite wine glasses as a special touch to your holiday table setup.

For a religious celebration, your options for your Christmas table decorations include what you traditionally associate with your personal religious ideals. You can find, buy, or build your own small nativity scene to use as a centerpieces for your table. You can then choose the colors for your table cloth and your plates based on the colors that you have in your nativity. If you don’t want to do something that complicated, as simple silver cross with flowers or other decoration about the base of it is a very moving and beautiful touch to any Christmas table.

When you are thinking about awsome Christmas  decorations for kids, you can do something a bit silly for them if you want. You can use just about any aspect of Christmas that you wish, including Santa, reindeer, or even small presents wrapped and presented as a centerpiece. Kids will love just about anything you do, so have fun with it. If you are having a party before Christmas with the kids, get a white, disposable table cloth and provide crayons so the kids can make one final plea to Santa on the table cloth. Moms and dads (and other family members) that need last minute ideas for gifts can then see what they really want for Christmas.
