Online Dating Tips for Women

September 7th, 2010

So you’ve been single long enough and now you want to find a partner.  Those lonely Saturday nights sitting at home are becoming too tedious to bear.  Where once you told your friends that you would never try online dating, you are now willing to go any route to find your true love.  Online dating does not suffer from as many negative stereotypes as it once did.  The truth is it can be a very effective way to meet a variety of people.  It will still be up to you to make the human connection on your first date, but there is nothing wrong with using the internet as a means to get to that point.  Here are some online dating tips for the modern woman who wants to give internet dating a shot.

1.  While you never want to engage in all-out mind games, there is still a little bit of strategy when it comes to online dating.  This involves giving your target just enough line to be interested so that you can wheel him in from afar.  That means making him chase you rather than emailing him every other hour.

2.  Keep your personal safety in mind and make sure to block anyone who sets off your danger radar.  You don’t have time to be nice when it comes to the creeps, so don’t be afraid to limit their access to you.  Don’t worry, you won’t be hurting their feelings because they will just move on to their next target.

3.  Try not to get obsessed with the world of online dating and continue to use other methods as well.  Some women spend hours on any given dating site and this is time that could be spent meeting people in other ways or doing some self improvement.

4.  It might be tempting to be the center of attention and try to manage talking to hundreds of men at once.  But if you’re serious about finding a soulmate, then you should narrow your choices down to a select few.  And once you have found a good match, then take a break from your profile and pursue this real life relationship.  A guy will notice if you continue to use your online profile and take it as a sign that you aren’t really into him, or serious dating.

5.  The final thing is to never forget putting up a decent picture to go along with your profile.  Make sure that it is accurate, up to date, and flattering.  You will start off on the right foot if your date knows what to expect and he will appreciate your honesty.
