Buying Carpet Shampooing Machines Versus Hiring A Service

September 1st, 2010

People are always contemplating on buying carpet shampooing machines, but they enjoy the luxury of having a company come out and do their whole household once or twice a year. There are pluses to both sides of this conundrum, and it really just depends on each individual’s situation. In addition, there is the issue of cost, and which one is more affordable for people with average financial means. Owning a shampooer does have it’s advantages, just a the local steam cleaning company will have features that the consumer version cannot compete with in full.

Using a service to clean your home’s carpets, upholstery, and drapery is as as easy as picking up the phone, and giving them a credit card number. The hard part is the bill, and most of these local cleaning companies can do a better job than most any consumer can with a domestic in home machine. Their industrial grade equipment and cleaning supplies are just that much more powerful, and get dirt from out of places that the consumer equipment is not capable of doing. In addition, their technicians are experts at stain removal, and have chemicals and process that the average homeowner does not have access to at local stores.

The best scenario for owning an in home rug shampoo, and steam cleaning appliance, is to buy the moment you purchase a new home, or when new carpet has been laid. This way the homeowner can stay on top of any situations that arise, and keep their carpets looking new, by steam cleaning them more often then they would have a service come out and perform. The cost will be much lower, and as long as the dirt and stains do not get out of hand, it will work just fine.

The cost benefit of a consumer machine is going to be much less over a period of two to three years, as it will pay for itself by using your own equipment, and supplying the sweat equity into the formula. You may be thinking that you see ads in the newspaper all the time for steam cleaning service to come out and do your home for twenty to fifty dollars. This is what they call a “come on”, and is something to get their foot in the door to upgrade the customer to a complete cleaning package that will cost hundreds of dollars. This type of service is out of reach for most people today, and optioning for the home unit will be a better value.
