Choosing the best warehouse forklift
Having the right fork lift or pallet jack in your warehouse can make your life a lot easier. If you are currently in a high-traffic warehouse, you should examine your workflow patterns and look for ways to increase efficiency. One of the bus ways to increase efficiency, is by purchasing powered pallet jacks. Manual pallet jacks do not work as well, and increase the risk for physical injury (Worker’s Compensation claims).
Properly trained forklift operators can benefit from using electric pallet jacks. Electric pallet jacks can dramatically speed up your unloading and offloading pallets from your dock. In addition to electric pallet jacks, you can also purchase CNG gas powered forklifts, propane forklifts, and diesel forklift trucks.
Electric pallet jacks are great, except if you are in the North East. Electric pallet jacks are not suitable for outdoor use and cold and icy conditions. If you’re in an exceptionally cold climate, you should consider a natural gas for diesel forklift jack. Special cold-weather additions also come with extra features such as heated seats. This is also a great way to boost morale by showing your employees that you care about their well-being.
Depending on your specific warehouse figuration and layout, you may need some specialty adapters as well. For example, special forklift attachments known as rotators can help you tilt your pallets and special ways. If you have extremely narrow aisles in your warehouse, you may want to consider buying a narrow profile forklift truck. These special forklift arrangements and attachments can make moving goods around your warehouse much safer.
If you are unloading large tractor trucks, you may want to purchase a forklift with a counterweight balance. Counterweight balance forklifts can lift heavier loads without rollover. These work by putting the batteries in a strategic location towards the rear of the machine, in order to lower the center of gravity under pallet truck.
