Eye Protection For Any Occasion
Most of us like to play outside. Even as adults, being outside doing some physical activity can be a blast. These physical activities can be healthy and therapeutic but it can also be dangerous. When we are outside for prolonged periods of time we are putting our bodies at risk. No matter the age we are at risk of damaging our eyes. Wearing sunglasses is a very good way to help protect our eyes from the sun and its Ultraviolet radiation. But we must also protect our eyes from impact and being pierced as well.
Sunglasses
The best types of sunglasses to look for are the kind that will have 99% to 100% UV protection. A UV rating of 100% is obviously the best but 99% will work too. Don’t be fooled by sunglasses that are extremely dark either. If the product doesn’t say how much UV protection it has then it is safer to put it back.
Another great option to look for in a good pair of protective eyewear is glare protection. In places that have a lot of snow or water the sun’s rays like to bounce off of them and this can cause damage to our eyes as well. Glare protection is usually in lenses that are polarized.
Protective Eyewear
Sunglasses are great for those activities that don’t require too much interaction with other objects but to protect our eyes from impact or piercing we need something a little sturdier. Protective eyewear such as safety goggles are a great way to play safe even while outside. Some safety glasses come with the same type of UV and glare protection that sunglasses do just with an added layer of durability.
Sports glasses are also another great choice because these tend to protect the sides of the eye not just the front. Good protective eyewear or sport glasses will be comfortable and have room to vent on the sides to prevent fogging and have anti-shatter lenses to prevent the lenses from shattering into the eyeball.
No matter what situation we may find ourselves in during our activity time there is eye protection equipment suitable. Whether we are just relaxing in the sun with our shades on or we are protecting our eyes from a baseball in a game of catch. Protecting our eyes is very important because once we lose our eye sight it is gone.
